Toddy Hill MVA

Motorist Mikhhil Sokolow, 39, of 126 South Main Street, who was driving an Audi northbound on Toddy Hill Road during a snow shower about 9:10 pm February 3, failed to negotiate a curve in the road and hit some steel guard cabling, went down an embankment and overturned, police said. Sokolow was not injured, police said. No enforcement action was taken.

Sugar Street Accident

 Motorist Geraldo Coelho, 25, of Danbury, who was driving a van eastbound on Sugar Street about 3:10 am January 31, slid off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole, police said. Coelho was not injured.

It was sleeting and the road was slushy when the accident occurred. Police said Coelho was traveling too fast for conditions.

Multi-Vehicle MVA

 State police report a three-vehicle accident on eastbound Interstate-84 about one mile west of Exit 13 about 11 pm February 3 while it was snowing.

 Motorist Joel Rodriguez-Hernandez, 33, of Waterbury, who was driving a 1992 Saturn SL-2 in the left lane, spun out and struck a 1998 Honda Civic in the right lane driven by Christopher T. Bydlik, 27, of Salisbury Mills, NY, state police said.

The Saturn then struck a tractor-trailer truck which had been traveling behind it, state police said. The truck’s unknown driver may not have been aware that it was struck and continued on, state police said.

There were no known injuries. State police said Rodriguez-Hernandez was traveling unreasonably fast.

Car Vs Van

State police report a motor vehicle accident which occurred about 5:30 pm February 2 on eastbound Interstate-84 about 1,000 feet west of Exit 13.

Motorist Marty Milkovic, 49, of Brookfield, who was driving a 1999 Dodge van, slowed for traffic and was struck from behind by motorist Benjamin K. Lasser, 18, of Brookfield, who was driving a 1990 Oldsmobile sedan, state police said. There were no injuries.

State police said Lasser failed to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Trucker Hits Sign

State police said trucker Rodney O. Smith, 24, of Frankston, Texas, who was driving a 1998 International truck on eastbound Interstate-84 west of Exit 10 about 1:40 pm February 1, lost control of the vehicle and struck a speed limit sign. There were no injuries. State police said the truck had a defective spring. 

South Main Accident

Police report motorist Ismail Sezer, 43, of Ronkonkoma, NY, who was driving a 1997 Volvo truck northbound on South Main Street February 7, encountered a northbound 1988 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck waiting to turn left onto Cedar Hill Road. Joseph H. Rant, 43, of 41 Skidmore Lane, Sandy Hook, was driving the Chevrolet, police said.

Sezer swerved to avoid the Chevrolet, but struck it, police said. The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Rant to Danbury Hospital for treatment. Police issued Sezer an infraction ticket on a charge of following too closely.
