NEW MILFORD â Rheumatologist Michael Spiegel, MD will speak on âNew Treatments for Arthritisâ on Wednesday, February 23, at 6:45 pm at New Milford Hospital.
Nearly 40 million Americans suffer with some form of arthritis according to the American Arthritis Association. However, some major breakthroughs have occurred during the last year and a half. The FDA has approved medications proven very effective in the treatment of this disease. At the February Community Health Forum Dr Spiegel will discuss the importance of these drugs, side effects of the medications and who may or may not be able to benefit from them.
Arthritis is a disease affecting joints and other connective tissues of the body, including important supporting structures such as muscles, tendons and ligaments, as well as the skin and certain internal organs. Sources estimate that by 2020 almost 60 million Americans will be affected with some form. The disease can affect all ages from the very young to the very old and impacts more families than any other illness.
