Mary Elizabeth Miklinevicus

Mary Elizabeth Miklinevicus, wife of the late Edmond Louis Miklinevicus, died on February 4 at Danbury Hospital.

Mary spent the majority of her life in Watertown, until three years ago, when she moved to Newtown to live with her granddaughter, Mary-Ellen and her husband David Cavanaugh.

She is survived by two daughters, Marion Bugnacki of Watertown, and Shirley D. Gravel of Watertown; eight grandchildren, Mark Gravel, Mrs Cavanaugh, Gregory Gravel, and Robert, Richard, Raymond, Randy, and Rodney Bugnacki; eight great-grandchildren, Renae, Rebecca, Amanda, Ashley, Alyssa, Christopher, David, and Julia; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs Miklinevicus was born in Waterbury on January 10, 1918, daughter of the late John and Domicele Tomkus. Her siblings were Bernice Strielkausas, Beatrice Stastonis, and John Tomkus, Jr. She lived in Waterbury until she was married and moved to Watertown where they built a house on Lake Winnemaug. She was involved in the Lake Winnemaug Association for many years doing what she loved to do, plan parties, dances, and picnics. Mary and Edmond spent 63 happy years together traveling to Florida in the winters and selling antiques at local flea markets. Mary and Edmond mostly enjoyed spending time with their family. Mrs Miklinevicus retired from Wheeler Wire Company in Waterbury. Her family will long remember Mary for her love for cooking and her un-matched apple pie.

A service was held February 7, at the Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main St., Watertown.

Contributions in Mrs Miklinevicus’ memory may be made to the American Lung Society, 45 Ash Street, East Hartford, CT 06108.
