BOYS 8TH GRADE TRAVEL

 

WATERBURY 71, NEWTOWN 58: Despite Andrew Fiscella’s 29-point performance, Newtown fell to a strong Waterbury team. Fiscella also had six rebounds and four steals. Dave Anderson chipped in with 11 points while Troy Simek and Matt McFadden combined for 13 points. John Oliver pulled down six rebounds.

NEWTOWN 54, NEW CANAAN 44: Defensive pressure, leading to 26 steals, powered Newtown’s win over New Canaan. Dave Anderson scored 13 points and made seven steals. Ross Coates had a strong game with 10 points and six rebounds while Andrew Fiscella had 10 points and five assists. Ronni Shimko chipped in with 10 points and Devon Manfredonia played solid defense, with five steals.

GIRLS 8TH GRADE TRAVEL

 

NEWTOWN 45, SOUTHINGTON 40: In a much closer affair than the last time these two teams met, Newtown had to comeback from an early seven-point deficit to win. The defensive quickness of Trina Ramsdell (six points) and Elissa Ballard, combined with the rebounding efforts of Stephanie Logan, Tori Filler and Kelley Haines, keyed the win. Haines scored 13 points while Filler and Julie Iwanicki added 11 points apiece. Kaitlyn Murphy was aggressive on defense.

NEWTOWN 41, WESTPORT 29: Tori Filler and Julie Iwanicki scored 11 points apiece as Newtown swamped Westport for the second time this season. Stephanie Logan and Filler dominated the boards while Erin Murdoch and Kari Frawley played well on defense.

GIRLS 7TH GRADE TRAVEL

 

SOUTHBURY 48, NEWTOWN 30: A balanced scoring effort wasn’t enough to overcome an older Southington team. Ami Walston played well off the boards while Jessica Budnick and Christie Caruso had good floor games. Meghan Kelley, Emily Nezvesky and Jackie Ercole combined for 12 points.

NEWTOWN 42, BRISTOL 33: Down by just five points at halftime, Newtown used a pressure defense – along with clutch baskets from Ashley Larocque (15 points) and Megan LaFlamme (nine points) – to win. Courtney Brunton, Katie O’Connor and Siobhan Cooper combined to pulled down 17 boards in Newtown’s best rebounding effort of the season.

BOYS 6TH GRADE TRAVEL

 

NEWTOWN 49, REDDING 22: Josh Tennenbaum scored 12 points and grabbed 15 rebounds (his first double-double) to lead Newtown to the win. Brian Shimko chipped in with nine points while Chris Giorno, Drew Harmata and Drew Adamek combined for 18 points. Jack Capito and Alex Caruso combined to dish out seven assists.

NEWTOWN 66, SOUTHBURY 46: Marc Ingerman poured in 20 points and pulled down 13 rebounds for his third double-double of the season and lead Newtown to another easy win. Drew Adamek tossed in 16 points and Brian Shimko added 10. Tommy Wilson chipped in seven. Stephen Neylon led the defense and Jack Capito grabbed 10 boards for Newtown, now 13-4 on the year

BOYS 5TH GRADE TRAVEL

 

RIDGEFIELD 53, NEWTOWN 35: Michael Kennedy scored 11 points and Joey Bowen added seven as Newtown fell to Ridgefield. Kevin Regan and Tucker Kass chipped in with four points apiece as Aron Fay, Bown, Kass and Regan were strong off the glass.

NEWTOWN 51, DANBURY 46: Newtown avenged an earlier loss to Danbury behind the fourth-quarter, three-point shooting of Joey DeVellis. DeVellis finished up with 12 points. Ryan McGrath notched another double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds as Tucker Kass (seven points) and Jack Quinn played well.

NEWTOWN 46, WOLCOTT 41: Joey DeVellis continued to have the hot hand as he scored 18 points (including three three-pointers) to lead Newtown to another win. Ryan McGrath scored 13 points and Cody Shpunt chipped in with four. Tad Pierson, McGrath and Shpunt controlled the boards for Newtown, now 16-4 on the season.
