Why Protect Charter?
Why Protect Charter?
To the Editor:
I, like most Newtowners, just received my monthly cable bill and, like most Newtowners, experienced an increase of almost ten percent. In this economy I have a hard time understanding how a service provider like Charter can increase their rates.
I blame Attorney General Blumenthal and the Newtown selectmen for fighting the entry of ATT and its UVerse offering based on the size of its boxes. Charter has no competition and as such is free to continue to raise its rates with no fear of losing its customer base. We have created a monopoly that feels free to take advantage of its position at the expense of the Newtown consumer. I believe we would all welcome the entry of ATT to the market and allow the competitive marketplace to establish a fair price for a superior offering.
Are the selectmen and AG Blumenthal protecting Charter at the expense of the consumer?
