You may drop in at the Senior Center on Riverside Road in Sandy Hook weekdays between 9 am and 4 pm. A hot meal is served at noon for which you must reserve three days in advance.
Newtown has daily door-to-door minibus service Monday through Friday. Buses also run all day from the Senior Center to Sand Hill Plaza. On Fridays, the bus alternates between rides to Danbury Fair Mall and Berkshire Plaza in Danbury (to Wal-Mart Route 6). Cost is 65¢ each way for the Sand Hill Plaza trip, 75¢ each way for out of town. Call 748-2511 TWO DAYS IN ADVANCE to book a ride and get the out-of-town Friday schedule.

*AARP INCOME TAX ASSISTANCE, for lower and medium income, Mondays only from 9 am to noon, February 9âApril 6. Bring last yearâs tax return and any other pertinent information. Call 270-4310 to set up an appointment.
*A DAY AT THE RACES, live harness racing at Monticello, N.Y., on Wednesday, February 11. Depart at 8 am, hot and cold luncheon buffet, clubhouse admission and 1,800 video gaming machines.
*VALENTINE BINGO will be February 11 at 1 pm.
*Play SCRABBLE every Thursday at 1 pm.
*Appointments can be made to review and/or sign up for PART D DRUG PLANS on Mondays between 10 am and noon. Call for an appointment, 270-4310.
*Work on the QUILTS OF VALOR project every Friday from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm. Bring your lunch. Donations of cotton material are welcomed. Thirteen quilts have been sent out to date.

Day Trips
*ACE IN THE HOLE presents the show âCarnival in Venice,â an Italian-style Mardi Gras, at The Brownstone in Paterson, N.J., on Tuesday, February 24, featuring Italian American tenor DaVido and also Italian-style street performers, and the I Ragazzi Band will provide daylong listening and dancing pleasure. Cost is $86; depart center at 8:30 am.
*SHOWTIME at the Log Cabin featuring the Dublin City Ramblers on Wednesday, March 11. Depart at 7:30 am for Holyoke, Mass., stopping at the Christmas Tree Shop and then onto the Log Cabin for a St Patrickâs Day luncheon, while listening to ballads, folk, humor, and foot-tapping music. The fee is $85.
*On Sunday, August 30, depart for Lee, Mass., and enjoy a luncheon at the Cork Nâ Hearth. After lunch travel to Tanglewood for an afternoon with the BOSTON POPS with JAMES TAYLOR. Depart 9 am; cost is $110. Call 270-4310 to reserve your tickets now as there are only 25 tickets available.

Monday: Oven fried chicken quarter, macaroni and cheese, garden peas, buttermilk biscuit, seasonal fresh fruit.
Tuesday: Beef barley soup with crackers, cold cut grinder with ham, salami, cheese, lettuce and tomato and mayonnaise on grinder roll, coleslaw vinaigrette, pears.
