Cupid’s Choice? A Cornucopia Of Comedy

A cornucopia of comedy entertainment awaits those who are looking to give their sweetheart the gift of laughter this Valentine’s Day.

On Saturday, February 14, Treehouse Comedy Club will be offering Fairfield County area residents four shows in three different markets, in four different venues. A variety of styles, types and lineups of comedy entertainment will be presented in Stamford, Newtown, Stratford, and Danbury, Stamford and Stratford.

In Newtown at the 525-seat Edmond Town Hall Theatre, the will present an encore performance entitled “Women of  the Night 2.” This show is not limited to women, however: it’s a show designed to laugh with your lover.

Last year’s virgin Valentine’s Day performance was so successful organizers have wrestled up four new lovely ladies of laughter, the star of which is Cory Kahaney, who leap-frogged into the national comedy spotlight as a finalist on Season 1 of Last Comic Standing.

Her comedy flower has blossomed into her starring in her own Comedy Central Presents Corey Kahaney comedy special along with appearances on The Late Late Show,  Tough Crowds with Colin Quinn, Politically Incorrect, and she was the comedy coach on Nick at Nite’s Funniest Mom in America 3. She is currently featured on The “Next Food Networks Star, broadcast on Sundays at 10.

Rounding out the quadruple bill are Carie Karavas as seen on Comedy Central and Lifetime’s Girls Night Out; Pat Candaras, and Peaches Rodriquez, the grand champion in The Funniest Comic in Connecticut Contest.

Tickets will be $20 for balcony seating, $25 for the lower level, and $30 for VIP seating on the first three rows for an 8:30 show time.

Cheap, Plentiful Laughs

The Treehouse Comedy Club at The New Sorrento, 32 Newtown Road in Danbury, will feature a 9 pm show for the very affordable ticket price of $15.

Cheap laughs, but plenty of them, is being promised by Tonight Show regular and $100,000 Star Search Grand Champion Al Lubel. The attorney-turned-stand-up comic will follow Boston’s own Bill Campbell who has appeared on A&E’s “Comedy on the Road” and from Comedy Central Tim Gage.

Showtime is at 9 and you can share a pre-comedy buffet for only $13.95 per person. Tickets for this show can be purchased by calling 744-5575 or at Treehouse Comedy.com.

Women In Comedy

The ladies will continue to bring on the laughs in Stratford, where Harborside Bar & Grille has become the newest Treehouse Comedy venue. “Women in Comedy” will be a sassier nightclub version of the classy theater performance in Newtown, but no less funny.

Carole Montgomery and Tina Giorgi will headline the show and between them they can account for appearances on Comedy Central’s Women Aloud, Tough Crowds and Comics Only, along with additional appearances on The Late Late Show, Politically Incorrect plus A&E, Lifetime, VH-1 and the MTV television networks.

Nanci Richards will round out the funny girl’s Valentine’s Day comedy line-up.

The Harborside is at 946 Ferry Boulevard. Showtime is 9 pm, and tickets are $17.50 for the show only or $32.45 with dinner. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling 203-375-3037.

Valentine’s Day In Stamford

In Stamford the Treehouse will “The Valentine’s Day Massacre” starring Colin Quinn and The Reverend Bob Levy.

Comedy Central came out with its list of the 100 Greatest Stand-Ups of All Time and included Colin Quinn on that list. The comedian recently hosted his own long-running weekly Comedy Central television show entitled “Tough Crowds with Colin Quinn,” in which Quinn and his comedy guests would rank on politics, politicians, and current world and national events.

Many also remember Colin as a former Weekend Update guy on Saturday Night Live and the host of Caroline’s Comedy Hour on A&E. He has also appeared in the movies The Roxbury Guy, Who’s the Man, Comedian and Married to the Mob.

Co-headliner The Reverend Bob… religious he’s not! Bob Levy is the roast master on all the Howard Stern Roasts and is regularly a Howard Stern Show whipping boy. He also stars in his own Sirius Satellite weekly radio broadcast entitled “Miserable Men.”

This show will begin at 9 pm and will be at Hibernian Hall, 186 Greyrock Place.

Regular tickets are $25, and VIP tickets are also available with a meet and greet before the show with both performers.
