MOSCOW WORLD FINE ART FAIR WILL RETURN MAY 27âJUNE 2 w/1 cut
avv/gs set 2/6 #728136
MOSCOW â The Moscow World Fine Art Fair, which celebrates its fifth anniversary, returns to the historic Manege, the Russian capitalâs largest cultural complex May 27âJune 2.
Show founder Yves Bouvier has invited several of the top international auction houses to participate. âOne cannot deny the synergy between the dealers and the auction houses,â said Bouvier. Auction houses so far include Dorotheum (Austria) and Hotel Drouot (France).
According to Bouvier this yearâs fair, with its 82 exhibitors, will take on a decidedly contemporary flavor. Almost half of the exhibitors are Twentieth Century art dealers and more than ten of the contemporary modern galleries. This will not detract from the wide range of collecting categories that have made the fair what it is today including furniture and works of art spanning the Sixteenth through Twentieth Centuries, sculpture, Old Master paintings, Impressionist and modern, contemporary, drawings, tapestries and carpets, Asian art ceramics, and porcelain and jewelry.
Among the new dealers are Jane Kahan Gallery, New York; Johns & Testori and Ivan Lindsay, both of London; Die Galerie, Germany; Artvera, Geneva; Bogema, Gallery Tri Veka and Gallery Proun, all from Moscow; Erdesz & Maklary, Hungary; Rabouan Maussion, France; and Galerie du Post Impressionisme, France.
New jewelers in the show include Harry Winston, New York; Mark Toto, Newport Beach, Calif.; and Wallace Chan, Hong Kong.
This year, the Fine Art Awards Prize, will take place on Tuesday, May 27. This award pays tribute to the contribution of the exhibitors in the three categories: The most interesting object in terms of craftsmanship, technique and originality; The professional who has been the most inspiring or influential in his industry; The best looking stand in terms of harmony, originality and ambiance.
The Manege is at Manezhnaya Square. The show is open daily from 2 to 9 pm. Admission is $20. For information, 011 41 22 906 1566 or www.Moscow-faf.com.
