GALLERY PAULE ANGLIM, CHARLES GARABEDIAN w/1 cut

ak/gs set 2/6 #728061

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. — The Gallery Paule Anglim is presenting al exhibition of recent works on paper by Charles Garabedian at its 14 Geary Street gallery through Mark 1.

For many years Garabedian has provided a spell-binding pictorial world where dramatic narratives find new life in skewed forms and a vivid palette. The show includes a group of new mixed media works on paper that combine bright color, metallic surfaces, building shapes and human figures. These archetypal elements are delivered in a loose, hand-hewn style that provides the fleeting essence of the scene, circumventing any need for perspective or realism.

Garabedian has maintained his studio in Los Angeles for more than 40 years, exhibiting internationally. His works are in the collections of the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.; Los Angeles County Museum of Art; Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston; The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; Orange County Museum of Art, New Port Beach; Rose Art Museum, Brandeis University; San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; and Yale University Art Gallery, New Haven, Conn.
