W/4 cuts; set 2-6; AK/GS; #687539

WINNETKA, ILL. — Antiques aficionados and amateur collectors will be inspired by the 38th Annual Winnetka Antiques Show, which is produced entirely by volunteers for the benefit of the Winnetka Community House, 620 Lincoln Avenue, where it will be held, March 2–4.

The show features more than 50 dealers from the United States and abroad offering American, English and Continental furniture, antique American flags, jewelry, sporting equipment, Asian antiques, antiquarian books and manuscripts, ceramics, early toys and banks, fine clocks and barometers, folk art, nautical antiques, Oriental rugs, period silver, pewter, paintings, prints, quilts and vintage clothing.

The Women’s Board of the Winnetka Community House will host several preshow events. Saturday, February 24, at 1 pm, an appraisal event with Leslie Hindman titled “For What It’s Worth” will be offered. This event will be presented in a lecture format with items from the audience described and evaluated. Tickets are $25 per person (includes one appraisal item per guest) and reservations required, as space is limited.

A benefit preview party will be on Thursday, March 1, from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. Cocktails and a dinner buffet will be served. Tickets purchased prior to February 24 are $85 per person ($100 at the door) and include a three-day show admission pass.

Enjoy an “Evening with the Experts” Friday, March 2, from 6 to 8, providing an opportunity to learn about antiques and how to build an outstanding collection.

Docent tours, led by Jason Molchanow, assistant curator of the JPMorgan Chase art collection, will be held Friday at 9 am, 10 am and 6:30 pm. These tours will be an opportunity to preview “Glorious: American Handiwork from the JPMorgan Chase Art Collection,” a special exhibition of handcrafted American textiles and works of folk art, including Nineteenth and Twentieth Century quilts, hooked rugs and a handcarved scrimshaw swift, used for winding yarn. All Friday events are complimentary with a show admission.

On Saturday morning, prior to the show’s opening, two complimentary seminars will be offered on “Fine French Furniture from the Provinces” and “Early Lighting in the Home.” Show admission is required to attend these lectures.

Show admission is $12 for a three-day pass; hours are Friday, 10 am to 8 pm, Saturday, 10 am to 6 pm, and Sunday 11 am to 5 pm. For information and tickets, 847-446-0537 or www.winnetkacommunityhouse.org.
