Promoted To Director Of Physicians Services
DANBURY â The Board of the Danbury Office of Physician Services (DOPS) has promoted Richard Lyon, of Newtown, from director of operations to administrative director of DOPS.
As administrative director, Mr Lyon will coordinate day-to-day administrative, financial, and development activities of DOPS and will evaluate business practices. DOPS is composed of 120 physicians â from general practitioners to specialists â who are affiliated with Danbury Health Systems, the parent of Danbury Hospital.
Mr Lyon has been with Danbury Health Systems since 1986. He joined the system as an administrative manager for several departments at Danbury Hospital, and later became operations manager and director of operations for DOPS.
Before coming to Danbury, he was with Boston City Hospital and University of Rochester, Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, N.Y., where he began his healthcare career as a respiratory therapist.
He earned his bachelorâs degree in health services management from Rochester Institute of Technology, and is a candidate for the masterâs degree in public health policy and management from New York Medical College, Valhalla, N.Y. He completed his bachelorâs degree in respiratory therapy at the University of Central Florida in Orlando.
Mr Lyon is a member of the Medical Group Management Association, the Connecticut Hospital Association, and the American Association of Respiratory Care. He served formerly as president and treasurer of the Connecticut Society of Respiratory Care.
