Do you have any nicknames? My family calls me Katie, and other people call me Kia.

Who is in your family? My husband Ryan, our son Wake, and our daughter Cora.

How did you meet your husband? Ryan and I met through a mutual friend, a family member on his side. We both attended her wedding years before we actually met. We were set up after I moved back home from California, at a Zac Brown concert. We were introduced to each other there.

How long have you lived in Newtown? Coming up on 10 years this year.

What do you do for work? I work for a marketing research company. I put together PowerPoint presentations. I’m like a PowerPoint presentation designer for both qualitative and quantitative research.

What did you want to be when you grew up? When I was a kid, a teacher. As I got older, a travel blogger.

What do you like to do in your free time? I love to go to the beach in the summer. I also do a lot of crafting and baking. I like to relax and watch TV, or check out a new winery.

Are you a member of any clubs, organizations and/or communities of faith? I’m on the Merryhill Child Care Center board of directors.

Favorite TV show? I love reality TV, so The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. I watch every season. I’m also very into documentaries. They can’t come out fast enough. Anything on a true story, I love them.

Favorite musical artist? I’ll always have a love for Mariah Carey, Zac Brown, Kenny Chesney, Jimmy Buffett — coastal country is really my jam.

Favorite musical genre? Mostly country but I’m a Millennial so I hop all over the map.

What was the most recent concert you went to? Zac Brown and Kenny Chesney at MetLife Stadium. It was a great show.

Favorite actors? Jennifer Aniston — I always love everything she’s in. Tom Hanks is in a ton of my favorite movies, and Will Ferrell, who’s hysterical.

What was the most recent movie you saw in the theater? It Ends With Us.

What is something you cannot live without? My husband, my kids, the beach, and mascara.

Favorite food? Sushi and tacos. I can’t pick between them.

What is your proudest accomplishment? The life I’m living. The life I’ve built with my husband and the family we’ve created.

What is your favorite part about Newtown? There are so many things. The community, and the community events, the people. I just love Newtown so much. I love Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue and all of their events.

What is something you’d like to see The Newtown Bee cover or cover more in-depth? New businesses in town, local events, and summer camp information. (laughing) This is my first year dealing with summer camp, so it’s top of mind for me.
