Valentineâs Day Musical Recital
SOUTHBURY â On Wednesday, February 14, at 7:15 pm, at East Hill Woods, mezzo-soprano Helen Falcone and pianist Leslie Merwin will present a recital to help celebrate Valentineâs Day.
Ms Falcone is a native New Yorker who was raised and educated in both Westchester County and southern California. She plays the piano, clarinet and guitar.
She has had leading singing roles in several local musical productions and has been a guest soloist with several choruses. She is a versatile singer whose repertoire encompasses opera, art songs, oratorio and Broadway.
Ms Merwin studied at Julliard Preparatory Division and Mannes College of Music. Upon graduation, after winning the Debussy Prize of Alliance Francaise of New York, she studied at Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris.
She held fellowships at Tanglewood and Aspen and earned a master of music in piano with a teaching fellowship in piano at Julliard studying with Irwin Freundlich. She has taught piano on the faculty of many prominent schools and conservatories throughout Connecticut.
