George P. Wnuck

World War II Air Force Veteran

George P. Wnuck, 87, of Lockwood Lodge, Newtown, died January 23, in Danbury Hospital. He was born in Chicago, September 9, 1923, a son of Ida (Boehnke) and John Wnuck.

He served in the Air Force as a second lieutenant in the Weather Squadron, stationed at Fort Sam Houston, during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1946. After his service in the Armed Forces, Mr Wnuck graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology, majoring in industrial engineering.

Mr Wnuck was employed for his entire career at Owens-Illinois, rising to the position of general manager. He was stationed in Aurora, Ind., Milan, Mich., Düsseldorf, Germany, Mexico City, Mexico, and Worchester, Mass.

A memorial service was held January 31, in Christ the King Lutheran Church, Newtown.

Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, was in charge of arrangements.
