Longtime Sandy Hook Resident Known As
âGo-Go The Clownâ
George Francis Zenhye, Jr, 62, beloved husband of Ellen (Pender) Zenhye of Sandy Hook, died suddenly at his residence on January 27. He was born in Bridgeport, the son of Anne (Kascak) Zenhye and George F. Zenhye, Sr.
He was a graduate of St Josephâs High School in Trumbull and resided in Monroe though his teen years. Mr Zenhye was a resident of Sandy Hook for 26 years. Employed by SBC/SNET for 28 years, he retired from his position as supervisor in the Hamden office six years ago. He obtained several honorable recognitions for his outstanding performance and service to customers and employees. He enjoyed a role as a âBlues Brotherâ with longtime friend, the late Charles Washington, performing at work functions.
In his earlier years Mr Zenhye was an avid bowler and his love of the sport landed him the nickname âGo-Go.â He also played softball and was a fan of the Yankees and Giants. He enjoyed fishing with his children.
In the late 1980s he participated for several years in Newtownâs Labor Day Parade as âGo-Go the Clown,â playing to the crowds and handing out candy to the children.
In addition to his mother and wife of 40 years, he is survived by his son George F. Zenhye III, and his daughter Ashley L. Zenhye, both of Sandy Hook; two brothers, Robert Zenhye of Waterbury and Edward Zenhye of Burlington; two sisters, Karen Bower of Waterbury and Annette DâAmico of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, and a brother, Michael Zenhye.
A Mass of Christian Burial in St Rose of Lima Church, Newtown, took place February 2.
