New Officers For NCC Men's Club
New Officers For NCC Menâs Club
The Menâs Club of Newtown Congregational Church held a new membersâ breakfast meeting in January. All new male members of the church were invited to join Menâs Club members as their guests for a breakfast that had been catered by South Main Deli of Newtown.
The purpose of the meeting was two-fold: first, a new slate of officers needed to be elected for the upcoming year; and second, club members wanted to acquaint the churchâs new members with the goals and activities of the club.
The following slate of officers was presented by club member Gordon Williams: Co-Chairmen Bill Brett and Bob Shaw; Program Coordinators Skip Roberts and Gordon Williams; and Treasurer Bruce Landgrebe.
The slate was unanimously accepted.
Mr Brett then reviewed the activities undertaken by the club in 2004, highlighting an air show put on at Bennettâs Farm, a Veteransâ Day program at Middle Gate School, ringing of bells for The Salvation Army at Super Stop & Shop, and a very well-attended Childrenâs Christmas Party.
Mr Brett also reminded attendees of the clubâs upcoming Valentineâs Day Ladiesâ Breakfast, scheduled for Sunday, February 13.
Mr Shaw said that more church and community service activities would be forthcoming for 2005, and that more members of the club will be called upon to participate.
âA successful menâs club is an involved club, and one that follows Godâs teachings,â he said.
