Daffodil Days Have Arrived
Daffodil Days Have Arrived
WILTON â Daffodil Days, the American Cancer Societyâs annual event, ushers in the first week of spring with the distribution of beautiful blossoms that bring hope to local cancer patients and their families.
The American Cancer Society is reaching out to individuals and businesses to order daffodils this year. The daffodils are on sale now through the first week of March.
âLocal residents not only will bring beautiful, yellow blossoms into their homes and workplaces, but they will contribute to the preservation of vital programs and services of the American Cancer Society,â said Katie Kendrick, the societyâs area director of development.
Contributions from Daffodil Days make a significant difference in services for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers. Last year in Connecticut, more than 7,500 rides to and from treatment for cancer patients were provided through the societyâs Road to Recovery program. More than 100 Connecticut children with cancer enjoyed outdoor adventures of camping and natural exploration at the Societyâs Camp Rising Sun in Colebrook. Quick, comprehensive cancer information was dispersed to nearly 14,000 Connecticut residents through the societyâs toll-free number and website.
Orders for daffodil bouquets are requested now; with delivery to take place the week of March 20. A bouquet of ten daffodil blossoms is $7. Businesses can purchase bulk bouquets of daffodils (50) for $350. Due to fees incurred with delivery, orders less than 15 bouquets are available for pick up at the American Cancer Society office, 372 Danbury Road in Wilton.
Gift of Hope, bouquets of golden-colored daffodils delivered anonymously to a cancer patient undergoing treatment in a local hospital, is available for a $20, $50, $75 or $100 donation.
Include far-away friends and relatives with a flower of hope electronic gift. To make an online donation, visit www.cancer.org/daffodils. A donor can send a daffodil e-card to anyone with an email address.
