Next PTSA Meeting To Discuss SAT, ACT, AP Tests

The next meeting of the Newtown High School Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) will take place on Tuesday, February 8, at 7 pm, at Newtown High School.

The first portion of the meeting will give parents the opportunity to meet Interim Principal Patricia Llodra.

The second half of the meeting, hosted by Director of Guidance Neil Culhane and guidance counselor Jeff Tolson will discuss the revised format of the new PSAT and SAT, as well as the ACT and AP tests. Each section of the revised SAT will be scored using the familiar scale of 200–800, including the new writing section.

Two subscores will be given for the writing section: a multiple-choice subscore on a scale of 20 to 80, and an essay subscore on a scale of 2 to 12. The essay subscore will be evaluated by two high school or college instructors, each of whom will not know how the other is scoring.
