Overcrowding At The Senior Center
Overcrowding
At The Senior Center
To the Editor:
The time has come for the community of Newtown to seriously address the problems of space at our Senior Center and to earnestly find a solution to meet the needs of our growing senior population. It is a well known fact that our present center can no longer accommodate the number of seniors who participate in the many daily exercise programs offered by the center, as well as the lack of parking space accommodations.
It is unfortunate the center has so many small rooms and not one spacious enough to comfortably hold the large number of seniors who participate and want to keep physically fit and healthy. Putting people into areas causing overcrowding is definitely unsuitable and could be dangerous.
It is quite apparent the needs of our senior citizens have been put aside in view of the fact that no explicit actions have been taken to improve these conditions. My understanding is that no action will be considered until 2016, which is appalling!
