Warrant
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Craig Thomas, 43, of West Haven turned himself over to police at the police station on the afternoon of January 26 and was charged with second degree failure to appear in court and with misuse of marker plates.
Police said that last August 1, Thomas had been issued a misdemeanor summons on a motor vehicle charge of misuse of marker plates. Thomas was then scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on August 30 to answer that charge, but he did not appear in court, police added. A warrant for his rearrest was then issued.
After posting $2,500 bail, police released Thomas for a February 9 court appearance.
Botsford Crash
Police report a two-vehicle accident at the busy intersection of South Main Street, Meadow Brook Road, and Botsford Hill Road about 7:41 am January 25.
Motorist Christopher Yitts, 18, of 8 Prospect Drive, who was driving a 1995 Chevrolet truck southward on South Main Street, was preparing to make a left turn onto eastbound Botsford Hill Road, when southbound motorist John J. Fazio, Jr, 27, of Bethel, who was driving a 2001 Jeep Wrangler, attempted to pass the Chevrolet on the right, police report.
As the Jeep was passing the Chevrolet, the Jeep crashed into a snowplow that was affixed to the front end of the Chevrolet, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Fazio a written warning for illegal passing on the right.
Moving Violations
While on patrol on Riverside Road about 6 pm January 27, police stopped motorist Kim Capozziello, 41, of 1 Underhill Road because the vehicle that he was driving had a defective headlamp.
After an investigation, police charged Capozziello with failure to have a functioning headlamp and with driving while under suspension.
After processing, police released Capozziello on a written promise to appear in court on February 15 to answer the charges.
Warrant Executed
On the evening of January 28, police executed an outstanding arrest warrant against Stephen Lescrynski, 59, of 239 South Main Street, charging him with second degree failure to appear in court, and additionally with driving under the influence, driving while under suspension, and failure to return a suspended driverâs license to the state Department of Motor Vehicles.
Police said that the three motor vehicle charges pending against Lescrynski stem from a sobriety checkpoint that police conducted last August 27 on Wasserman Way at Fairfield Hills.
Police said they held Lescrynski on $5,000 bail for a January 30 court appearance.

Sandy Hook Collision
About 12:16 pm January 25, motorist Jessica Dugan, 16, of 6 Fox Run Lane, who was driving a 2003 Honda Pilot, was in the parking area of Misty Vale Deli & General Store at 51 Berkshire Road and was waiting for traffic on that road to clear, so that she could make a right turn onto westbound Berkshire Road, police report.
At that time, motorist Shannon Hicks, 36, of 2 Zoar Road, who was driving a 2001 Dodge Neon, was traveling westward on Berkshire Road, police report.
The Honda then pulled out onto the road and the Dodge swerved in seeking to avoid contact, but the two vehicles collided, police said. There were no injuries.
Police said they issued Dugan a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.
Police said they also warned Dugan for illegally driving a motor vehicle containing a passenger within the first three months of her driverâs licensure. Police noted that Dugan had only had her driverâs license for six weeks and was driving with a 17-year-old passenger, in violation of motor vehicle regulations.
Commerce Road Crash
About 8:24 am on January 25, motorist Haendel Sibilia, 27, of Danbury, who was driving a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer southward on an icy Commerce Road, became involved in an accident with southbound motorist Jennie Ritchie, 37, of Danbury, who was driving a 1994 Toyota Camry, police report.
The two vehicles collided in icy conditions, police said. There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.
Following the mishap, the town road crew sanded the road, police added.
Cadillac Collision
About 1:45 pm on January 25, motorist Janet Serra, 50, of Middlebury, who was driving a 1989 Cadillac Fleetwood, was parked along the northbound road shoulder on Main Street, as motorist Rena Simoes, 45, of Wolcott was driving a 2004 Honda Accord northward on Main Street, police said.
The Cadillac then pulled into the northbound lane and collided with the Honda. There were no injuries. Police said Serra made an unsafe movement.
Chevrolet Mishap
Motorist Teresa Cipriano, 36, of Danbury, who was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Malibu northward on South Main Street, near Greenbriar Lane, about 5:52 pm January 29, told police that a southbound vehicle had swerved toward her, so she swerved to avoid a collision, but in doing so she entered a ditch along the right side of the road, according to police.
Cipriano was not injured. Police verbally warned her for making a restricted turn.
Foggy Night
Motorist Tanya Rotella, 16, of 20 Vining Road, who was driving a 1994 Chevrolet Corsica northward on Edmond Road about 11:40 pm January 29, encountered fog that so heavy that she was unable to see the road, police said. The Chevrolet went off the right side of the road. Rotella was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
Bancroft Sideswipe
About 8 pm January 27, motorist Christopher Costello, 48, of 33 Bankside Trail was driving a 2003 Land Rover sport-utility vehicle southward on Bancroft Road, near Alpine Circle, when a dark-colored Volvo coupe driven by a white male sideswiped the Land Rover and then left the scene, police said.
Costello was not injured. Police are investigating and ask anyone with information on the identity of the offender to contact police Officer Amity LaFantano at 426-5841.
Access Violation
State police report that at about 6:40 pm January 26, motorist Samuel Caldaron, 46, of Bridgeport drove across some turf at an on-ramp/off-ramp interchange at Exit 10 of Interstate 84. Calderonâs vehicle became stuck in the mud there.
State police said that on investigating the incident, Calderon presented them with a forged driverâs license.
State police arrested the man on charges of second-degree forgery, driving while under suspension, and also with making an illegal entry to or exit from a limited-access highway.
DUI Charge
Police report that motorist Domenick Tramontozzi, 39, of 1 Pequot Path, was driving a pickup truck near the intersection of Lakeview Terrace and Gelding Hill Road about 8:30 pm on January 30, when he became involved in a one-vehicle accident. Tramontozzi was not injured, police said.
After investigating, police charged Tramontozzi with driving under the influence, possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, and making a restricted turn.
Police released Tramontozzi on $500 bail for a February 15 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Nissan Accident
Motorist Daniel Palermo, 16, of 45 Cedar Hill Road, who was driving a 1996 Nissan Altima, was making a left turn from Joan Drive onto Bari Drive about 2 pm on January 30, when a dog ran into the roadway, police said.
In attempting to avoid striking the dog, Palermo lost control of the auto and struck some curbing and a small section of lawn at 11 Bari Drive, police said. There were no injuries.
 Daniel Palermo was driving the vehicle on a learnerâs permit, police said. Robert Palermo, 46, of 45 Cedar Hill Road, who was a passenger in the Nissan, was listed as the instructor on that permit, so police verbally warned Robert Palermo for making a restricted turn.
Outstanding Warrant
Police informed Matthew DeLuca, 19, of 2 Elm Drive on January 31 that they held an outstanding warrant for his arrest in connection with a motor vehicle violation that occurred last spring.
Police said they had issued DeLuca a speeding infraction last March 30, but he had failed to respond to the violation. Thus, police charged DeLuca with failure to respond to an infraction and with speeding.
After processing, police released DeLuca on $93 bail for a February 14 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Two Charges
Police said that they stopped motorist Thomas Saint, 50, of Easton on Route 6 about 11:20 am on January 31 after noticing that the vehicle he was driving had no registration sticker on its rear marker plate.
After investigating, police charged Saint with failure to display a vehicle registration sticker and with driving while under suspension.
After posting $250 bail, police released Saint for a February 15 court appearance.
Queen/Mile Hill
Police report a two-car accident at the hazardous intersection of Queen Street and Mile Hill Road about 2:30 pm January 31.
Motorist Frank Slinko, 77, of 79 Toddy Hill Road, who was driving a 1993 Plymouth Acclaim, was making a right turn from southbound Queen Street onto westbound Mile Hill Road, as motorist Gabriel Stan, 30, of Danbury, who was driving a 1994 Toyota Corolla, was traveling westward on Mile Hill Road, police said.
The two cars collided. There were no injuries. Police issued Slinko a written warning for failure to grant the right of way at a stop sign.
Alcohol Violation
Police said they received a report that multiple youths were loitering at about 11:10 pm January 27 in a rear parking lot at Rocky Glen Mill, an office building at 75 Glen Road in Sandy Hook, so they went there to investigate.
Police said they observed that Jordan Rancourt, 18, of 59 Scudder Road possessed two unopened cases of beer and two partially empty bottles of beer in his 2002 GMC pickup truck.
Police issued Rancourt a written warning for possession of alcohol by a minor in a motor vehicle. Police said Rancourtâs actions also will be the subject of state Department of Motor Vehicles hearing.
Six Offenses
Police report that on February 1, they stopped motorist Beverly Burgos, 28, of Danbury on Route 34 because she had no front marker plate on the vehicle which she was driving.
After investigating, police charged Burgos with failure to display a marker plate, driving an unregistered vehicle, misuse of a marker plate, driving without automotive insurance, driving while under suspension, and possession of less than four ounces of marijuana.
After arrest processing, police released Burgos on $100 bail for a February 16 court appearance.
SUV Vs Deer
Motorist Suzanne Letso, 48, of 93 Poverty Hollow Road, who was driving a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee northward on Hattertown Road about 7 pm February 1, collided with a deer that had entered the roadway, police report. Letso was not injured and no enforcement action was taken, police said.
