Help For Divorcing Parents
Help For Divorcing Parents
The Family Counseling Center will be able to continue to provide The Parent Education Program (PEP) to divorcing couples involved with child custody issues under Public Act 93-319.
The program is meant to provide an educational experience for the parents to help ensure that the children involved will have as positive a transition as possible. To accomplish this, the center offers a proven, effective child-focused curriculum called âChildren First.â
The curriculum covers how children of different ages deal with separation and divorce, negotiation and managing conflict, visitation and new family arrangements, and listening to children and helping them adjust.
Classes are taught by trained facilitators at Family Counseling Center in either one six-hour session or two three-hour sessions during evening or weekend hours.
The Family Counseling Center at 121 Mt Pleasant Road is a state licensed and accredited nonprofit mental health agency offering counseling for families and individuals in the greater Danbury and Southbury area. For more information on when classes are held and/or additional information, call the Family Counseling Center at 426-8103, extension 100, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 4:30 pm, for registration.
