Paintings By Susan Warner

To Be Presented At Booth Library

Susan B. Warner will have 31 works on view at C.H. Booth Library this month. “Serenity,” which opens on February 2, will be celebrated with an opening reception on Sunday, February 4, from 2 to 4 pm.

Mrs Warner grew up in Newtown, and has lived in New Milford, for the past 20 years with her family including her husband and three daughters.

She has become most recognized for her intimate and timeless portraits of women and children. Her ability to capture the delicate sensitivity towards mood and emotion are reflected in her work.

Mrs Warner has always had an artistic nature. Over the years she has worked in many different mediums such as, watercolor, acrylics, oils and sculpting. Photography has also been an important part of her life.

Mrs Warner worked in packaging design and illustration for over 22 years. Now she spends most of her time sharing what she considers her given gift. Expressing her love for creating beauty on canvas is very fulfilling to her and painting portraits is what she’s most passionate about.

“Being able to capture a moment in someone’s life that is unique and all their own that otherwise in a blink of an eye would be gone forever, is truly a treasure,” says the artist, whose children have been her biggest inspiration. Mrs Warner also paints animals, landscapes, and still lifes.

Although she has studied with several well respected artists over the years, Mrs Warner is largely self-taught. Degas and Pino are among her artistic influences.

She is a member of the Society of Creative Arts of Newtown and has exhibited her work in several galleries and solo shows in and around Connecticut. She has also been nominated and has received awards in recognition for her work including Best in Show for Portrait & Figure work at Mystic Arts Festival and SCAN’s Barn Gallery award.
