Newtown High School To Host Eighth Grade Parent Night

An Eighth Grade Parent Night will take place on Tuesday, February 6 (snow date, Tuesday, February 13), in the Newtown High School auditorium. The evening will start with a tour of Newtown High School at 6:30 followed by the meeting at 7.

Department chairs and administrators will discuss course offering and ninth grade expectations. They will present the requirements for students who enter college or honors level courses. Parents will have the opportunity to raise questions about the ninth grade curriculum.

Also, individual student course/level registration sheets with the teachers’ recommendations and the Newtown High School Program of Studies will be distributed. The registration sheet must then be returned to the middle school guidance department by February 15.

To further help with the transition from middle school to the high school, guidance counselors from the high school with be at the middle school on March 27, 28, and 29 to individually design each student’s ninth grade schedule. All parents will be receiving additional information directly from the middle school.
