In January, two Brownie Troops took tours of Newtown Savings Bank. Girls in St Rose Schoolâs Troop 596 and Newtown Service Unit Brownie Troop 656 learned how to make a deposit, how transactions are processed, how to check for counterfeit bills, and using money counting machines. The field trip fulfilled a requirement for the Penny Power Try-It, which the girls in Troop 596 were awarded at the end of the trip. St Rose Brownie Troop 477 recently enjoyed a visit to Andreaâs Pastry Shop where they decorated and sampled scrumptious cookies.
Brownie Troop 843 from Sandy Hook Elementary School visited Woodcock Nature Center recently for a hike through the woods and a lecture about different animals at the nature center. The trip helped them towards earning three Try-Its: Outdoor Adventurer, Eco-Explorer, and Animals.
NMS Cadet Girl Scout Troop 236 made sandwiches for the Lionâs Club-sponsored Red Cross Blood Drive on January 15.
