Teams Sought For Earth Day Yard Projects
It is not too early to think about spring and delivering sunshine to others.
Friends of Newtown Seniors (FONS) will sponsor a Senior Earth Day Celebration on Sunday, April 24, from 9 am to 1 pm. A central gathering/kickoff will start at 8 am, with groups then heading to their work locations for the 9 am start.
Bev Bennett Schaedler, chair of FONS Chore Service, is coordinating the effort.
“Our goal is to form as many teams willing to help a senior who no longer has the ability to work/clean up their yard,” Bennett Schaedler told The Newtown Bee. “All locations will be prescreened and then assigned a team.”
Organizing starts now.
“April is going to be here quickly,” Bennett Schaedler said. “Whether you’re a corporation, civic organization, part of a club, Scouts, students, church groups, families, or friends, anyone who wants to make a difference is welcome.”
Not all locations will need the full four hours to complete their tasks.
“Some groups could be done earlier than 1 o’clock,” Bennett Schaedler said.
