Suspect Arrested In Attempted CVS Burglary
A Newtown man was arrested after allegedly attempting to break through glass at the 6 Queen Street CVS. At 1:38 am January 24, Newtown Police responded to CVS for the report of a glass alarm break for the drive through window of the pharmacy.
Officers arrived on the scene and located a suspect attempting to gain entry to the building. The suspect, who police identified as Mark Zavatsky, 23, of Newtown, attempted to flee the scene on foot.
Following a brief foot pursuit, Zavatsky was apprehended by Officer William Crone.
Zavatsky was charged with criminal attempt at third-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, and fourth-degree criminal mischief.
He was held on a $5,000 bond with a court date of January 24 in Danbury Superior Court.
