Stick To The Facts
Stick To The Facts
To the Editor
I take the time each Friday to read all the letters that are sent to The Bee. I have been following the deer culling and have written a letter prior to this one to your editor. I must say I am surprised that David Shugarts came off in his letter to you as defensive. I am not sure what Mark Alexanderâs position with the animal welfare has to do with his personal beliefs and his right to state them [âLyme Disease Battle Should Not Rely On Misleading Claims,â Letter Hive, January 16], but it appeared that Mr Shugarts had to make it known that he was not being fully out in the open when he wrote his letter to you [âMisleading Statistics Came From The CDC,â Letter Hive, January 23].
Also, Mr Shugarts was quick to point out the small core group who have been tag teaming letters to make it appear there are many people out there who are animal advocates. Well I am sure the people of Newtown can read between the lines and see that he is trying to make their rights to protect the animals seem trivial. I also think there are more people out there that believe in animal rights than animal slaughter. What I suggest is that we stick to the facts and quit acting like immature, argumentative children.
I would love to know exactly how the members for this so-called Lyme task force were picked? I also feel since Mr Shugarts has put it out there, that everyone should know what you do for a living if you disagree with the culling and this should some how sway your personal beliefs. Letâs ask this task force what each member does for a living and what is their personal belief? Then we can decide if indeed we have a fair task force or if the task force truly has their minds made up, but for the sake of politics they are just going through the motions. I say we call a meeting and find out what each member of our task force believes one-on-one and how did they get chosen?
I hope you print this and it is not for any other reason but for the letter I read in todayâs paper from Mr Shugarts. I think it is time the smaller percentage, as he believes (Mr Shugarts), sticks together. And for the record, I do not know any of these people.
