Senior Center Offering Trips
NEW FAIRFIELD â The New Fairfield Senior Center has organized a few trips for 2009, which are open to area residents. Full details about each trip are available at the senior center, or those interested can call Senior Center Program Coordinator Mary Carneiro, 312-5665, for details.
Following are some details about four upcoming trips:
*On Friday, February 20, the senior center will sponsor a trip to the Rhode Island Spring Flower & Garden Show. Highlights include 30 gardens following an âAround The Worldâ theme; lunch in Providence at Geppettoâs, whose creative menu features five courses and a cooking demonstration; and the opportunity to stroll the street and grab some cannoli and Italian bread for the ride home.
Cost is $68 per person
*A two-night trip to Pennsylvania Dutch country, April 15â17. Highlights include accommodations at Elegant Eden Resort, voted Lancasterâs favorite hotel; tours of the Amish Countryside with visits to the Intercourse Canning Company; orchestra seats at the Millennium Theatre for Behold the Lamb, dinner at Millerâs Smorgasbord, and afternoon at Longwood Gardens at the renowned du Pont Estate.
Cost is $401 per person twin, which includes two breakfasts, one lunch, one dinner, plus the sightseeing and theater tickets.
*Quassy Senior Picnic on Tuesday, June 23. Full lunch under the pavilion, dancing to live island rhythm music with John Banker, a cruise on Lake Quassapaug, horseshoes and bocce, and all-day ride pass including the parkâs miniature train.
All this including transportation for only $35 per person.
*Royal Caribbean Transatlantic Cruise, November 22âDecember 6. Cruise from Southampton, England, to Paris and Cherbourg, France, Vigo, Spain, and Madeira, Portugal, to Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Prices start at $1,749 per person, which includes motorcoach to JFK, airfare to England, 13 nights on Royal Caribbeanâs newest and largest ship in Europe, and airfare from Florida to JFK. There are optional tours to the Beaches of Normandy and an overnight stay in London.
