*Newtownâs own national recording artist LUCINDA will be performing at The Infinity Music Hall & Bistro on Saturday, February 7. Showtime is 7:30 and Lucinda will be joined by musical partner Michael Connolly. Lucinda and Michael will be sharing the stage with singer-songwriter Bess Rogers.
I canât tell, from the bistroâs website, if Bess is headlining or if this is a co-headlining gig for the two ladies, but either way itâll be a great evening of acoustic music in Norfolk.
âI love the atmosphere of Infinity Hall. Itâs like sitting in someoneâs living room,â said Lucinda, who has lived in Newtown all her life. âThe acoustics are tremendous and I get to share this experience with the accompaniment of Michael Connolly who is a fabulous recording artist in his own right. Two acoustic guitars, congas and harmonies⦠thatâs heaven!â
Tickets for this show are $10 to $25 and can be ordered by calling Infinity Hallâs box office, 866-666-6306 (the business office is 860-542-5531) or online at InfinityHall.com. Iâm noticing a very nice trend of keeping tickets are extremely reasonable prices for this venue, by the way.
Infinity Hall, whose adjacent bistro apparently opened just this month, has already filled its calendar with some very good shows through at least May. Highlights include GREG BROWN on May 16 (hooray!) along with the following: DAVIOD WILCOX with LARA HERSCOVITCH, tickets $25-$40, on February 6; LEON REDBONE, $25-$40, February 8; ELLIS PAUL with SETH GLIER, $15-$30, on February 13; BUCKWHEAT ZYDECO, $30-$45, on February 26; JOHN WAITE, $29-$45, on February 27; BO BICE, with Patrick Mitchell, $35-$45, on March 5; THE JAMES COTTON BAND, $25-$40, on March 8; THE NIELDS, with Chris OâBrian, $15-$30, on March 13; ACOUSTIC ALCHEMY, $27-$42, on March 19; EIGHT TO THE BAR, $15-$22, March 20; KIM WILSONâS BLUES REVUE, $20-$35, March 27; AVERAGE WHITE BAND, $10-$25, performing two shows on April 3; POPA CHUBBY, $19-$24, on April 124; and JOHN GORKA, $20-$35, April 25.
This weekend the hall will welcome THE JAMES MONTGOMERY BAND with very special guest J. GEILS. I didnât mention this show earlier, however, because itâs sold out.
The hall is on Route 44 in Norfolk, a town whose name I canât pronounce without sounding like Iâm cursing.
*Closer to home, Mocha Coffeehouse will close the month with an acoustic performances by the jazz vocalist AMANDA BLOOM on Friday, January 30, and then MARK MAHONEY will bring his MIDI Mallet Synth Project to the Glen Road location on Saturday night.
Both shows will run about 8 to 10 pm, and thereâs no admission charge.
*Also this weekend, THE ADULTS return to the downstairs area of The Inn at Newtown when they perform at Proud Maryâs, the lower bar at 19 Main Street. The guys will be over there on Saturday night.
Until next week Iâll be seeing you... on the road.
