DUI Arrest
DUI Arrest
Police said that while on patrol near the Mobil gas station at 62 Church Hill Road about 2:17 am January 23, they noticed that a vehicle was parked at the gas stationâs exit with its engine running with its driver asleep at the wheel.
Police said they investigated the incident and then charged motorist Patrick Carbonell, 22, of Southbury with driving under the influence and with driving with a suspended license.
Following arrest processing, police released Carbonell from custody on $100 bail for a February 10 arraignment at Danbury Superior Court.
DUI Incident
Police said they responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on private property at Hot Shots Grille at 130 Mt Pleasant Road at about 6:39 pm January 22.
After investigating, police said they charged motorist Andrea Reardon, 51, of Seymour with driving under the influence.
After processing the case, police released Reardon on $100 bail for a February 5 court appearance.
Breach of Peace
After he learned that police held a warrant for his arrest, John Pearson, 41, of 14 Bridle Path Trail turned himself in at the police station on the afternoon of January 22 and was charged with second-degree breach of peace, police report.
Police said the charge stems from an incident that occurred on Bridle Path Trail on December 21.
Following processing, police released Pearson from custody on a written promise to appear February 3 in Danbury Superior Court for arraignment on the charge.
Additional Charge
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Christopher Jurman, 42, of 39 Brushy Hill Road turned himself over to police at the police station on the morning of January 26 and was charged with failure to insure a motor vehicle.
Police said the vehicular insurance charge stems from a December 24 motor vehicle accident on Button Shop Road in which Jurman was previously charged with driving under the influence and with following too closely.
Jurman was slated to appear in court on January 26.
Currituck Road
Police report they stopped motorist David Fuselier, 49, of Brookfield for a motor vehicle violation on Currituck Road at about 10:20 am January 24.
Police charged Fuselier with failure to drive a reasonable distance apart and with driving with a suspended license.
After his case was processed, police released Fuselier on a written promise to appear in Danbury Superior Court for arraignment on February 6.
Suzuki Vs Saturn
About 6:24 pm on January 23, motorist Dorothy Palmer, 66, of 230 Head Oâ Meadow Road, who was driving a 2003 Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV, was waiting at a stop sign on Currituck Road at its intersection with Main Street, as motorist Nina Palazzo, 23, of 28 Old Hawleyville Road was driving a 1996 Saturn sedan northward on Main Street, police report.
The Suzuki then started to make a left turn onto southbound Main Street and the Saturn swerved to avoid a crash, but the two vehicles collided, police report.
There were no injuries. Police issued Palmer a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.
South Main Impact
Police report that motorist Carol Hustis, 48, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 2004 Acura TSX sedan southward near 48 South Main Street at about 4:30 pm January 25, was struck from behind by southbound motorist Gabrielle McDowell, 57, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 1995 Saturn coupe.
There were no injuries. Police said they gave McDowell an infraction on a charge of following too closely.
Four Vehicles
A four-vehicle chain-reaction accident occurred on eastbound Mile Hill Road, near its intersection with Tinkerfield Road, about 8:17 am January 23.
In that incident, motorist Margaret Boyle, 51, of 4 Bridle Path Trail, who was driving a 1995 Isuzu Trooper SUV, struck the rear end of a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan minivan driven by Lisa Kneski, 37, of 3 Blue Spruce Drive, police said.
That collision pushed the Dodge into the rear end of a 2001 Chevrolet K-15 station wagon driven by Craig Harmeling, 49, of 37 Mt Pleasant Road, police report.
That impact pushed the Chevrolet into the rear end of a 2006 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Daniel Bergeron, 49, of Redding, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Boyle a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
DUI Arrest
State police report that motorist Benjamin Elderstein, 20, of White Plains, N.Y., did not stay in his travel lane on Interstate 84 while driving about 80 miles per hour at about 1:50 am January 23, so they stopped him to investigate.
State police said they charged Elderstein with driving under the influence, speeding, failure to drive in the proper lane, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Eldersteinâs bail was set at $1,000. No court information was available.
DUI Charge
State police report that at about 2 am January 22, they spotted motorist Eric Socci, 20, of 18 Crossbrook Road driving erratically on Interstate 84 in Hawleyville, so they stopped him to investigate.
State police said they charged Socci with driving under the influence, possession of alcohol in a motor vehicle by an underage person, possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, and failure to drive in the proper lane.
Police released Socci on $1,000 bail for a February 9 court appearance.
Pontiac Crash
Motorist Matthew Lane, 38, of Norwich was driving a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix westward on Interstate 84, about one mile east of Exit 11, about 4:20 am January 24, when he lost control of the vehicle while on a right curve on the road and then slid into a concrete barrier along the left road shoulder, state police said.
Lane was not injured. Information on possible enforcement action was not available.
Sideswiped
At about 10:30 am January 20 on eastbound Interstate 84, near Exit 9, an unknown blue-and-yellow flatbed truck sideswiped a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV driven by Michelle Lionetti, 49, of Goshen, state police said.
The flatbed truck then left the scene of the crash. Lionetti was not injured. State police are investigating.
Nissan Vs Honda
Motorist Andrew Mangold, 17, of 49 Butterfield Road was driving a 2008 Honda Fit sedan westward near 89 Church Hill Road about 12:20 pm January 23, when he attempted to make a right turn into a driveway and was struck from behind by westbound motorist Nicholas Nazer-Paniagua, 17, of Davidson, N.C., who was driving a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder, according to police.
There were no injuries. Police issued Nazer-Paniagua a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Multiple Charges
After learning that police held a warrant for her arrest, Joann Defosche, 42, of Trumbull came to the police station on the morning of January 28, and was arrested on six charges in connection with a May 20, 2008, motor vehicle accident on South Main Street, police said.
Police said they arrested Defosche on charges of driving under the influence, reckless driving, possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, risk of injury to a minor, and failure to maintain automotive insurance.
In that accident, Defosche was driving a 2008 Nissan Rogue compact crossover sport-utility vehicle northward on South Main Street about 9 pm May 20, when the Nissan crossed the roadâs centerline, entered the southbound lane, struck some curbing, hit a residential mailbox, crossed over a driveway, struck an embankment, spun around, and then landed on its driverâs side in front of a house at 220 South Main Street.
On January 28, police released Defosche on $500 bail for a February 11 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Taunton Crash
Police report a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Taunton Lane and Taunton Hill Road about 7:48 am January 27.
Motorist Miroslaw Supronowicz, 53, of Norwalk, who was driving a 2004 Ford Ranger pickup truck, was waiting at a stop sign on Taunton Lane, as motorist Jean Johnson, 49, of 134 South Main Street was driving a commercial 2004 Ford Freestar minivan eastward on Taunton Hill Road, police said.
The pickup truck then entered the intersection and collided with the minivan, police said. There were no injuries. Police gave Supronowicz a written warning for failure to grant the right of way at a stop sign.
Mirror-To-Mirror
About 2:35 pm January 21, motorist Keith McCool, 47, of Terryville was driving a 2008 Ford pickup truck eastward on Old Bethel Road, as motorist Daryl Bartkus, 57, of Roxbury was driving a 2005 Ford pickup truck westward there, police report.
While passing each other in opposite directions, the two trucksâ left exterior rear-view mirrors collided. There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned both drivers for failure to drive to the right.
Rear-Ender
About 8 am January 21, motorist Louis Meola, 48, of Danbury, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck eastward near 172 Mt Pleasant Road, when he stopped for traffic conditions, police said.
Eastbound motorist Antonio Camelo, 40, of Danbury, who was driving a 1999 Honda Civic sedan, then drove into the rear end of the Chevrolet, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said that Camelo failed to drive a reasonable distance apart and that he also failed to have a driverâs license.
