Friends And Family
Christian H. Qualey, Jr, 65, of Newtown, beloved husband of Judith, died January 23 at St Vincent Medical Center. Mr Qualey was born in Bridgeport to Christian and Florence (Lutheran) Qualey, and made Newtown his home 35 years ago.
He graduated from the University of Bridgeport in 1968 and received his MBA in finance from Western Connecticut University. Mr Qualey was previously employed for 20 years as the manager of financial planning at Perkin-Elmer in the Danbury and Wilton offices. He currently was self-employed in real estate and property management.
He truly loved the town of Newtown and was very involved in local politics, running for first selectman of Newtown in the 2007 election. He was a loyal and dedicated friend, who was always there to offer sage advice when needed. If you were his friend, there was no limit to what he was willing to do for you. These are the qualities that made him the man he was, caring and compassionate, and never shy about voicing his opinion. His love and admiration for his two sons was endless. He was extremely proud of all of their accomplishments. Mr Qualey was devoted to his loving wife and partner of 38 years, Judi. He will be sadly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
He was an avid UConn Huskies fan and loved karaoke.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Christian H. Qualey III of Norwalk and Eric S. Qualey of New Haven; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services were held January 26 at St Ambrose Church, Bridgeport, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment was in St Michael Cemetery.
Those who so desire may make contributions in his memory to the charity of oneâs choice.
