Nighthawks Winter Guard Show Is Jan. 31

The Newtown High School Winter Guard will present its seventh annual Winter Guard show on Saturday, January 31 at Newtown High School.  

The show begins at 6 pm. Cost is $7 for adults, $5 for students and seniors. Refreshments will be available.

Twenty-three color guard teams will compete in four classes (Novice, Scholastic Regional A, Scholastic A and Open) each of which is ranked by difficulty of routine.

Participating high schools include Bethel, Brookfield, Cheshire, Danbury, Naugatuck, New Milford, Tolland, Shelton, Ramsey (N.J.), Trumbull, East Side (N.Y.) and Masuk.

This year’s Varsity Winter Guard theme is “Revolution: Everything That Has A Beginning Has An End.” Led by Varsity Guard Captains Sarah Devellis, Courtney DiBeneditto, Nicole Krause and Stacie Tomasko, this year’s Winter Guard includes 17 varsity guard members from grades eight through 12.

Varsity guard instructors are Helen Rosado, Bob Findley, Cathy Brauer, Alissa Belcher and Bert Serrano.

The 2004 Junior Varsity show is “Western Frontier.” Matt Kullberg, Krystina Staskiewicz and Bob Findley are leading the Junior Varsity members, consisting of 16 members, this year.
