Wanted:
Two Economic Development Commissioners
Newtownâs Economic Development Commission works to implement orderly and planned economic development while always keeping in mind the character of the town. The commission involves all agencies, commissions, boards and departments in Newtown that are involved in, or affected by, economic development, as well as the people of the town in their work to promote economic development.
According to First Selectman Pat Llodra, currently there are two vacancies on the Economic Development Commission to be filled by appointment: one that can be filled by a Democrat or unaffiliated voter; and one by a Republican or unaffiliated voter.Â
Unaffiliated voters can contact the first selectmanâs office during weekday business hours or leave a voice mail with contact information at 203-270-4201. Registered Democrats or Republicans should express interest in an appointment to the EDC through their local town committees.
Any interested registered Republican can call Chairman Bill Brimmer of the Republican Town Committee at 203-270-9885. Registered Democrats can contact Chairman Jim Juliano of the Democratic Town Committee at 203-426-0065.
