The Administrative Committee

Sets An Agenda

To the Editor:

The Legislative Council’s Administration Committee will hold its first meeting on Wednesday, February 3, in Shared Meeting Room One at the new Municipal Center. Among the agenda items for this meeting is a discussion of the objectives the committee will address during the next two years.

From my perspective as committee chair, I believe that an important role of the committee is to review town administrative processes to determine if there are ways that these processes can be improved. Among my topics of interest are improving communications between town government and Newtown residents and the use of digital communications tools to achieve this objective, and furthering the council’s goal to “support, collaborate and encourage implementation by appropriate town entities for long range planning inclusive of the Master Plan for Fairfield Hills to ensure development is done in the broader context of all needs of the Town of Newtown.”

Newtowners who would like to provide the committee with their thoughts are invited to attend our meeting. If you cannot attend, please feel free to email me with your suggestions. My email address is gdavislcd2@aol.com.

You can find the agenda for our meeting, as well as for the meetings of other town government organizations, on the town website at www.newtown-ct.gov. Click on Meeting Calendar on the home page and go to February 3.

Also, if you are interested in attending any of the budget review meetings that began this week and will continue through April, you can find the schedule on the town website home page under Newtown News and Announcements. The Administration Committee has been tasked with facilitating having these meetings videotaped for presentation on Charter’s Channel 17, as well as other digital media.

I hope to see some of you at our meeting on Wednesday, February 3.
