This nondenominational Christian church meets Sundays, 10:30 am–1 pm, for morning worship, with fellowship immediately following the service. Additional programs and services include: The Lion of Judah Reach Out Ministry, which helps men and women and teens transition from prison life to society; shelter for battered and abused women; housing for ex-offenders and battered women. Lion of Judah Reach Out Ministry also provides counseling and clothing for teens and adults. A drill team for teens, including musical instruments, is also available for teens. Volunteers welcome. Sunday, January 31, will begin with an 8:30 am Rise & Shine Breakfast hosted by the Adult Winter Workcampers and featuring various quiches, stratas, baked goods, and piping hot coffee and tea. The 10 am worship service will include a sermon titled “There Goes The Neighborhood,” based on Luke 4:21–30, which will be presented by Reverend Matt Crebbin. Reverend Janice Touloukian will assist during the service. The church children will present the Children’s Message on “How To Get To Heaven.” This month, children in The Garden are studying Jesus, The Good Shepherd (John 10:1–30). Child care is available for ages 3 and under. In the event of inclement weather, all daytime church activities (including church office) will be canceled when the Newtown public schools are closed. Worship service cancellations will be listed by 8:30 am on the church office voicemail, on our website Calendar page, and on WTNH Channel 8. Calendar includes: Jan 31, informal discussion concerning alcohol usage within the church, following worship service, 11:30 am (meeting will be to discuss an official policy for the congregation and the building, no voting at this time).
