Edmond Town Hall Theatre To Host ‘Big Lebowski’ Fest
Edmond Town Hall Theatre, the historic theater and movie house at 45 Main Street, will host the inaugural Big Lebowski Fest on Friday, February 10.
The event will begin at 8 pm and will include a “Dude” bathroom pageant, door prizes, a screening of The Big Lebowski, and, of course, White Russians will be served at the bar.
The event is being sponsored by Strikers of Brookfield. Joseph Shepard, owner of the bowling alley, said The Big Lebowski playing at Edmond Town Hall “is the best of both worlds: a movie with bowling playing in my hometown of Newtown.”
Strikers of Brookfield will also be giving away prizes at the event.
The bathrobe pageant will be conducted on the theater’s stage, with contestants vying to be named “The Dude.” Enter the pageant to win great prizes donated by local businesses.
No bathrobe? Wear a bowling team jacket for another opportunity to win prizes from event sponsors.
In the 1998 cult comedy from directors Ethan and Joel Coen (Raising Arizona, Fargo), ultimate LA slacker Jeff “The Dude” Lebowski (Jeff Bridges), mistaken for a millionaire of the same name (David Huddleston), seeks restitution for a rug ruined by debt collectors, enlisting his bowling buddies Walter Sobchak (John Goodman) and Donny (Steve Buscemi) for help while trying to find the millionaire’s missing wife (Julianne Moore).
The film also features Philip Seymour Hoffman, Tara Reid, and John Turturro in its cast. It is rated R and has a running time of 1 hour, 57 minutes.
The Big Lebowski Fest will start at 8 pm. Tickets are $10 and available at edmondtownhall.org or by calling 203-270-4285.
