Local Girls Bring Home Another Championship

Newtown residents Katie Laaksonen and Megan Goyda helped their Connecticut Seahawks softball team to their fourth tournament championship in as many attempts. The team went 6-0 during the 12U Softball Tournament at the Adirondack Sports Complex in Queensbury, NY, the weekend of January 22 and 23, outscoring their opponents 54-8. Both girls had RBI triples in the championship game against the Electric City Bombers from Albany. Other opponents were the Duchess Debs, Connecticut Titans, Hudson Valley Express and Miss Shen Dynamite.
