A Memorable Event

To the Editor:

I am not a frequent contributor to The Bee but could not pass up this opportunity to extend our sincerest thanks to you for covering the NHS, Brookfield HS swim meet and to the amazing efforts of Brian Reiff, Carl Strait, Gregg Simon, and now Matt Childs for their support for this special event.

This past October was the tenth anniversary of our son’s death, and I can tell you it was very gratifying to see his name in the paper at this time. In addition to this swim meet, my wife Ginny has, for a second year, successfully helped in organizing a Leukemia and Lymphoma Light The Night Walk event here in Newtown. The first one was at the high school with great assistance from Gregg Simon and many others . The second one was at the Newtown Youth Academy at Fairfield Hills. It was an amazing success. Our fundraising goal of $39,000 was met and passed. We even had the Governor’s Horse Guard. Suffice to say, we have been blessed to know many wonderful people in Newtown and just wanted to thank you.
