Forklift Part Found

Police report that a forklift attachment was found lying on the eastbound road shoulder at 62 Church Hill Road about 4:45 pm January 16. Police ask that the owner contact them at the police station at 3 Main Street to retrieve the industrial accessory.

Minivan Into Tree

Motorist Marc Imbimbo, 24, of Bridgeport was driving a 2002 Dodge Caravan minivan southward near 59 Mile Hill Road South about 11:25 am on January 24, when a large unidentified truck with a snowplow attached to its front end was heading northward toward him on that street, police report.

Imbimbo told police that the snowplow was partially in the southbound lane, causing him to swerve to the right to avoid it. The minivan then went off the right road shoulder and struck guardrailing and a tree, police report.

Imbimbo was not injured. Police said they gave Imbimbo a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.

Gelding Hill Crash

Police report a two-vehicle accident on a snowy Gelding Hill Road about 11:18 am January 24.

Motorist Mary Ellen Midgley, 41, of Brookfield was driving a commercial 1995 Ford Econoline van northward near 13 Gelding Hill Road, as motorist Gil Gilbert, 61, of Stratford was driving a 2001 GMC Sierra pickup truck southward there, according to police.

The Ford went out of control on the snowy road, entered the opposite lane and collided with the GMC, police report. There were no injuries. Police issued Midgley a written warning for driving with unsafe tires and for making a restricted turn.

Main Street Collision

Motorist Melo Silva Mauro, 49, of Deerfield Bach, Fla., was driving a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee southward on Main Street, just south of its intersection with West Street, about 8:40 am January 24, when a southbound 2002 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Angelo Meola, 55, of Mahopac, N.Y., stopped for traffic, police said.

The Jeep then slid on the slushy road and struck the rear end of the Ford, police report. There were no injuries. Police gave Mauro a written warning for following too closely.
