Rita Caruso Quatrella

Rita Caruso Quatrella, 89, of Newtown and formerly of Easton, died peacefully January 25 at Masonicare of Newtown. She was the beloved wife of the late Ralph Quatrella. Born in Bridgeport, on July 18, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Frances Passafiume and Frank Caruso.

Mrs Quatrella had been employed by the Bridgeport Public School System where she had worked as a special education teacher, specializing in reading and teaching students with dyslexia.

A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, her greatest enjoyment was found in the time she spent with her family and taking care of them. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Her three loving sons and their wives, Joseph and Doreen Quatrella of Seymour, Daniel and Patty Quatrella of Watertown, and Frank and Susan Quatrella of Easton; her three cherished grandchildren, Michael Quatrella and his wife Danielle, James Quatrella and his wife Natasha, and Nicole Quatrella and her fiancé Ryan Luby; her daughter-in-law, Laura Quatrella of Florida; her brother, Joseph Caruso of Shelton; and her sisters, Caroline Wakefield of Southbury and Angeline Schillaci of Bridgeport, survive her. In addition to her husband, her son Leonard Quatrella and her sister Rose Iodice predeceased her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 31, at 11 am directly in Notre Dame of Easton Church, 655 Morehouse Road, Easton. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 1056 Daniels Farm Road, Trumbull.

Friends may greet the family on Monday, January 30, from 4 to 8 pm at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
