Boys 8th
Newtown 63, New Fairfield 47 â George Zaruba scored 24 points as Newtown defeated New Fairfield. Andy Lapple added 12 points and Dan Lynch tossed in 11. Ben Miles, Casey Tenney and Peter Young supported the offense as Kyle Kromberg and Jamie Tibbets played strong off the boards and led with assists.
Newtown 49, Danbury 34 â George Zaruba scored 18 points as Newtown improved to 4-3 overall and 3-2 in the FCBL with a win over Danbury. Ralph Sergiovanni and Dan Lynch combined for 17 points as Peter Young, Kyle Kromberg and Casey Tenney combined to add 12 more. Ben Miles, Andy Lapple and Jamie Tibbets played tenacious defense leading to several fast break situations.
Girls 8th
Newtown 30, Pleasantville 22 â Nicole Elias, Kate Bowen and Sara Kelley combined for 20 points to lead Newtown over Pleasantville, New York. Kristen Errico was strong off the boards with 10 rebounds.
Yorktown Storm 41, Newtown 37 â Newtown lost a heartbreaker in overtime to the Yorktown (NY) Storm. Sara Kelley canned 16 points for the Hawkeyes while Jennifer Daily chipped in eight. Ally Modzelewski and Megan Bridges had outstanding defensive games.
Lakeland 46, Newtown 41 â Jennifer Daily led all scorers with 18 points while Nicole Elias and Sara Kelley combined for 22 more as Newtown lost to Lakeland (NY).. Lindsey Burns and Kate Bowen were strong in the blocks as they combined for 16 rebounds. Newtown played the weekend without Kaitlin Marsden, who was nursing a fractured ankle.
Newtown 52, Brookfield 28 â Ally Modzelewski, Lyndsey Burns and Nicole Elias shut down some key Brookfield players to lead Newtown to victory and remain undefeated in the Fairfield County Basketball League. Sara Kelley scored 18 points while Jennifer Daily added 13. Kate Bowen and Kristen Errico combined for 13 points while Meghan Bridges chipped in four. Errico (15 rebounds) and Bowen (9 rebounds) were aggressive off the boards.
Girls 7th
New Fairfield 32, Newtown 24 â Maggie Donohue scored eight points while Taylor Benson added five points and nine rebounds in a loss to New Fairfield. Christie Iorfino and Marilyn LaCroce were solid on defense.
Monroe 28, Newtown 16 â Maggie Donohue had six points along with eight rebounds and eight blocks but Newtown fell to Monroe. Chelsea Gray completed a three-point play on her way to five points as Colleen Cunningham added four more points. Sam Whitley and Alex Grant had good defensive efforts.
Boys 6th
New Milford 57, Newtown 46 â Taylor Steimle scored 12 points and Austin Bonadio added 11 more in a loss to New Milford. Dan Gallagher canned six points as Mason West and Erik Samuelson were strong on defense and rebounding.
Newtown 44, Darien YMCA 31 â Kyle Wilcox and Will Fletcher were exceptional off the glass and led Newtown to a win over Darien. Kevin LeBlanc supported the offense as Taylor Steimle â solid at the free throw line â canned 16 points. Trey Trudell added 10 and Josh Barrett tossed in eight.
Wilton 38, Newtown 24 â Trey Trudell scored eight in a loss to Wilton. Newtown kept the game close in the first half with strong defense and quality rebounding at both ends, but in the second half found it difficult to penetrate inside and their efforts outside fell short.
Boys 5th
Danbury 37, Newtown 33 â The Hawks gave a powerful Danbury team all they could handle in this well played contest. Reid Schmidt led Newtown with 10 points and also pulled down four rebounds, while Sean Elliott turned in another great all around effort contributing six points, four rebounds and a steal. Gavin Scallon (four points, two blocks and four rebounds), Pieter Martino (six rebounds, block, steal) and Sam Ashey (four rebounds, steal, block) were all very strong in the low post for the Hawks. Dan Hebert, David Gerics and Jake Feinstein anchored a strong defensive effort at the guard position with 10 steals between them.
Newtown 32, Brookfield 23 â After falling to Brookfield in their frigid gym back in December, the Hawks turned up the heat on the Bobcats in more ways than one in a spirited complete game effort. Conner Quinn led the way with seven points, three steals and three rebounds and Nick Gerbo displayed a sharp shooting eye with six points. Wyatt Depuy (three points, three rebounds, block) had a solid overall game and Dan Hebert continued to harass opposing guards with three steals and four points. Reid Schmidt and Gavin Scallon also had strong games, each scoring four points and hauling down five rebounds.
Trumbull 44, Newtown 31 â Conner Quinn canned 10 points and hauled down four rebounds, but Newtown fell to a tough St. Theresaâs team from Trumbull. David Gerics (four points, three steals), Sean Elliott (five points, four rebounds, two steals) and Dan Hebert (five steals) played well. Jake Feinstein had a clutch jump shot that helped the locals nearly erase a double digit lead early.. Gavin Scallon (five rebounds, steal, block) and Pieter Martino (five points, four rebounds) were again dominant forces under the basket.
Girls 5th
Newtown 14, Southbury 13 â Bridget Powers hit a 20-foot jumper off an assist from Maddy Good to tie the game and then Tressa Scott sank a free throw with only seconds to play to lead the Attack past Southbury.. Claire Miles had four blocks while Catie Yakush had three rebounds and Samantha Steimle kept a tough group at bay.
Newtown 16, New Canaan 14 â Stephanie Roman dropped in four points and Erin Kenning added further support to the offense as the Attack clipped New Canaan. Meaghan Harkins and Kristiana Engler had three assists each. Brittany Tolla and Julia Trudell were exceptional on defense.

Junior Boys
Deamon Deakins 49, Bullets 44 â Tory Deakin and CJ Portolese scored 12 points apiece and Brian Kuruc dragged down eight rebounds to lead the Deakins to the win. Brian Grimes dished off six assists and James Rebman played well on D. For the Bullets, Sam Kerr canned 15 points and Xhulio Halili added 10 more to lead the way. Travis LeBlanc dished off eight assists, Matt Baier made 10 steals, and Ryan Daly grabbed 12 rebounds.
Eagles 61, Knicks 48 â Max Paynter poured in 25 points and Trevor Todd added 15 more to lead the Eagles to the win. Michael Zaccaro, Brandon Bennett and Michael Herring (seven rebounds) played well. For the Knicks, Eric Thornberg canned 16 points while Brendan Blawie added eight and Danny White dished off eight assists.
Wildcats 53, Jaspers 30 â John Fracker dropped in 27 points as the Wildcats clawed the Jaspers. Brad Biscoe, Nick Wolf, Danny Clements and Dylan Berger had solid floor games. For the Jaspers, Adam Buccino scored 10 points and Jeff Keating grabbed eight rebounds.
Rockets 54, Red Devils 33 â Jamey Bowers scored 14 points and Shane Wurtz added 12 more to provide liftoff for the Rockets. Derek Krewson grabbed 10 rebounds and Max Brazo played well on D. For the Devils, Joe DiNicola had 18 points while Nick Neves added eight and Kyle Packer dished off seven assists. Oliver Power blocked five shots.
Hawkeyes 46, Celtics 36 â Alex Miller popped in 16 points and grabbed five rebounds to lead the Hawkeyes to the win. Eric Hoffman added 11 points while Bob Mascher and Mike Tenney played well. For the Celtics, Evan Kennedy had 12 points while Dana Hansen and Dan Greenwood combined for 10 more. Bryan Czel pulled down four rebounds.
Saints 50, Orangemen 27 â Kevin OâConnell scored 14 points and Andrew Seymour grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Saints to the win. Zack Bryan dished off six assists and Tom Capozziello made six steals. For the Orangemen, Evan Triantafilidis canned eight points as Tim Lalli and Nick Dinelli played well.
Huskies 51, Orangemen 28 â Kyle OâConnor canned 13 points and Mikey Tobin added 10 more to lift the Huskies. Thomas DiLuoffo had a strong floor game. For the Orangemen, Jeff Brown, Ryan Zitney and George Primavera played well.

Celtics 30, Knicks 26 â Hannah Basch-Gould canned eight points and Hannah DeFlumeri added six more to lead the Celtics to the win. Maggie Reznikoff (six steals), Casey Router (eight rebounds) and Aria Brownell played well. For the Knicks, Kristen Tassinari had eight points while Rebecca Castegner and Jessica Fossum had strong floor games.
Gaels 50, Kids On The Court 42 â Michelle Rahtelli popped in 18 points to lead the Gaels. Stephanie Spath, Marissa Cucco, Kate Foy and Megan Gibbons played well. For the Kids, Ali Pliszka poured in 28 points while Meghan Wilson, Emma Kingsley and Meghan Gibbons had strong floor games.
Huskies 29, Kids On The Court 15 â Victoria Picerno had nine points and Shannon Zamary was strong off the glass to lead the Huskies. Stephanie Suhoza, Lisa Vendel and Briane Lubinsky had solid performances. For the Kids, Ali Pliszka and Meghan Gibbons combined for 14 points while Sarah Ferris played well.
Pacers 44, Gaels 19 â Brittany Wiberg poured in 21 points while Ashley Kuligowski and Katie Pessin had eight points apiece to lead the Pacers to the win. Pessin added eight points and six steals while Mara Scallon tossed in four points. For the Gaels, Meredith LaPerch popped in nine points as Stephanie Spath and Kate Foy played well.
Pacers 32, Bulls 16 â Brittany Wiberg scored 16 points and Katie Pessin made 10 steals to lead the Pacers to the win. Maggie Korth grabbed eight rebounds. For the Bulls, Jenna Bonaccorso canned 12 points while Carolyn Fagan had six steals.

Suns 26, Liberty 14 â Jackie Kissack scored 14 points and Stefanie Clavette added six more to lead the Suns to the win. Olivia Phenix, Courtney Campbell and Grace Winans had strong defensive performances. For the Liberty, Katie Fossum and Suzanne Gissen tossed in four points apiece while Sara Principi and Jade Mather played well.
Blue Angels 22, Regulators 16 â Carlie Gehrman canned 12 points as the Blue Angels captured the win. Nicole Davis, Christina Caporale (eight steals) and Erin Bell all had good games. For the Regulators, Michele Beaudry popped in seven points as Alison Kron and Kelsey Packer played well.
Orange Crush 21, Gaels 11 â Madeline Keane canned 11 points and Ashley Cirone dished off three assists to power the Crush. Katherine Lotrecchiano dished off four assists and Ellyn Gordon played well on D. For the Gaels, Julie LaPerch scored points, Allison Blume pulled down eight rebounds and Anna Hodge had three steals.
Da Bears 34, Huskies 12 â Kristy Papaj popped in 14 points and Suzanne Wright added eight to lead Da Bears to the win. Amanda Stanton dished off six assists and Meredith Bridges grabbed six rebounds. For the Huskies, Lindsay Jossick had 10 points while Shannon DiLorio, Lexi Black (five steals) and Ally Kennedy (seven rebounds) had strong performances.
Da Bears 38, Knicks 16 â Kaitlyn Vos Winkel, Jessica Gibbons and Kristy Papaj canned eight points apiece as Da Bears cruised to da win. Rachel DiVanno grabbed eight rebounds as Shannon OâGorman played well. For the Knicks, Caitlin Dowling had 10 points and six steals as Nicole Rotante had six points and six rebounds. Melanie Rotante grabbed four boards and Georgia Contois had a solid game.

Bullets 35, Vipers 23 â Michael Lengel poured in 22 points and Robbie Uhde grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Bullets to the win. Christian Barrett dished off five assists and Myles LoBuglio had four steals. For the Vipers, Jeff Grasso canned seven points as George Primavera, Scott Runkle and Kyle Harrington played well.
Spurs 45, Raptors 25 â Brandon Marks popped in 18 points and Colin Morris added 10 as the Spurs rolled. Austin Pulieri dished off six assists and Phillip Reynolds had five steals. For the Raptors, Don Morrissey canned 10 points and Nick Sajovic had six assists. Cullin Mitchell and Chad Magoulas played well.
Thunder 34, Panthers 24 â Ryan Dunnigan scored 18 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and made three steals to lead the Thunder past the Panthers. Ben Stoller scored eight points and Shaun Mangold made two steals. For the Panthers, Keegan Lombard scored 12 points while Tyler Gibney (seven assists), Daniel Bethke (six steals) and Patrick Riccardi (six rebounds) played well.
Blazing Warriors 41, Rockets 26 â Colin Cooper poured in 25 points as the Warriors blazed to the win. Patrick Mullins, Matt Sharpe (six steals) and Michael Calderone had solid floor games. For the Rockets, Mike Greenwood scored 12 points while John Lebinski dished off 12 assists. Harrison Snellback made five steals.
Bears 37, Hurricanes 24 â Kevin Phillips scored 16 points and Alex Roche added 10 to lead the Bears. Greg Frattaroli pulled down 12 rebounds while Griffin Paynter and Jimmy Mooney played well. For the âCanes, Mike LoBosco had nine points as Dean Demers dished off eighth assists. Christian Sayegh played well on D.
Panthers 33, Huskies 32 â Keegan Lombard canned 15 points as the Panthers clipped the Huskies. Keenan Bennett, Austin Ekstrom and Patrick Riccardi played well. For the Huskies, Ryan Crowell and Francis Afriyie combined for 15 points.
Grizzlies 26, Huskies 18 â Jake Enrique canned 14 points and Josh Villa pulled down eight rebounds to lead the Grizzlies to the win. Justin DeVellis dished off six assists and Pat Capozziello added six steals. For the Huskies, Sean Burson popped in 10 points and Francis Afriyie added five.
Regulators 45, Nighthawks 18 â Bubba LeBlanc scored 16 points and Mike Lord added 14 more to lead the Regulators past the Nighthawks. Brandon Cooper, Mario Pitzighelli and Matt Vavrek (seven rebounds) played well. For the âHawks, Christian Mather had eight points while Cole Baldino (five assists), Jake Tolson and John Corsi played well.

Blue Devils 18, Cavaliers 13 â Nick Cagganello scored eight points and Colton Smith grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Devils. Chris Carroll and Julian Dunn played well. For the Cavs, Jack Lago popped in six points while Nick Strokis and Mitchell Stewart played well.
Knicks 22, Celtics 18 â Tommy Gleason canned 10 points and Otto Kerler pulled down eight rebounds as the Knicks trimmed the Celtics. Virgil Procaccini dished off four assists and Ryan Durr made four steals. For the Celts, Jonah Muniz dropped in six points as Patrick Rowley, Matt Barra and Grandon Smith played well.
Runninâ Raiders 28, Huskies 17 â Andrew Tarantino scored 14 points as the Raiders defeated the Huskies. Brendan Peterson (six assists), Tim Kelley and Dominic Scarangella (nine rebounds) had strong floor games. For the Huskies, Spencer Brindley scored six points as Nate Steinbrey and Stephen Grasso played well.
Yellowjackets 27, Nighthawks 26 â Troy Frangione and Matt White scored eight points apiece to lead the Yellowjackets to the win. Robert Linden played well off the glass. For the âHawks, Chase Wurtz canned 10 points and Connor Gallagher added eight more. Luca Imbimbo, Matt Wood and Kyle Gordon played well.

Yellowjackets versus Orange Tigers â Emily Benson and Michaela Jackman strong on offense while Tonya Tucker and Alexis Tucker were aggressive on defense for the âJackets as Carly Cohane and Jillian Gibney were strong on offense and Ashley Marks was aggressive on defense for the Tigers.
Blasting Blueberries versus Red Tigers â Samantha Cannavo and Juliana Patelli were strong on offense while Brooke Hadgraft and Aimee Alexander were aggressive on defense for the Blueberries as Caitlyn Linden and Amy McGurk were strong on offense and Kelsey Muniz and Madeline Peck were aggressive on defense for the Tigers.
Hyper Hippos versus Shooting Stars â Abby Kohler and Molly Begg were strong on offense while Madison Pirone and Clare Boyle were aggressive on defense for the Hippos as Cassie Fischer and Sarah Lynch were strong on offense while Samantha Lillis and Hannah Hripak were good on defense for the Stars.

Dragons versus Red Devils â Graham Hubbert, Will Swain, Sean McCafferty and Curtis Giles led the Dragons while Kyle Keeping, Michael Doyle, Kyle Troy and Scott Alexander powered the Devils.
Gray Eagles versus Wild Armadillos â Constant Gregoire, Bobby Archerie, Mason Melillo and Lukas Palumbo played well for the Eagles while Steven Faxlanger. Aidan Peterschak, Albert Dean and Mark Dowling played well for the Armadillos.
Hawks versus Destroyers â Joe Santella, Matthew Ingwerson, James Carney and Jordan Chipman powered the Hawks while Bubba Condon, Trevor Lopez, Trevor Palmeri and Ethan Burg led the Destroyers.
Purple Tigers versus Tigers â Jackson Cryder, Andrew Svanda, Billy Cosgrove and Jacob Burden played well for the Purple Tigers while the regular Tigers were led by Matthew Maturo, John Carlson, Rory Phillips and Michael Cirone.
Blue Jays versus Lightning Bolts â Zachary Weiland, Connor Roche, Joe Carino and Matt Elias had strong performances for the Jays as Andrew DeWolfe, Luke Rustici, Carl Whippie and Zach Aumueller powered the Bolts.
Razors versus Knights â Michael OâKeefe, Kevin Conte, Robert Katrinak and Owen Richards had solid floor games for the Razors as the Knights were powered by Jaret DeVellis, Jamie Cochrane, Kaustav Mitra and David Kent.
Blue Dragons versus Bulldogs â Logan Walsh, Jason Ferrari, Eric Cascone and Darryl Silverlieb played well for the Dragons while Daniel Colucci, Tim Vanderhave, Declan Sullivan and Peter Manfredonia powered the âDogs.
