Howard Thayer

A Gentle Man, Forever Loved By Family

Howard Thayer, 93, died at the Ashlar of Newtown Health Care Center on January 24. He was the much beloved and devoted husband of Jeanette (Feeley) Thayer, who predeceased him on January 28, 2005.

Mr Thayer was born on August 16, 1912, in Canada to Harold and Mary Jane Thayer.

Before moving to New Fairfield, he had lived in Bethel, Danbury, and Brookfield. Howard started working at the age of 13, at the former Lee Hat Factory of Danbury, where he was employed for 40 years. He then worked at Plastic Mold of Newtown, where he designed and built production machinery, as a tool and dye maker.

He is survived by his son Thomas H. Thayer and wife, Pat, of New Fairfield; five grandchildren Aaron Thayer and wife, Jackie, of New Milford, Karl Thayer and wife, Cindy, of New Milford, Darlene DiBetta of New York City, Candis Parsons and husband, Stu, of Woodbourne, N.Y., and Daryl DiBetta and wife, Lisa, of Rock Hill, N.Y.; and five great-grandchildren, Barbara and Jessica Thayer, Lea DiBetta and David and Justin Parsons. Mr Thayer was predeceased by his daughter Lea Jane Dibetta and son-in-law Joseph DiBetta.

Mr Thayer was a very gentle and warm man. He will be sorrowfully missed and forever loved by his family and those who knew him.

The family was scheduled to receive friends Thursday, January 26, from 6 to 8 pm at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street in Danbury. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 27, at 11 am at the Green Funeral Home. Interment will follow at St Peter Cemetery.
