Free Screenings At Hospital On Valentineâs Day
NEW MILFORD â Preventing heart disease, the nationâs leading killer, starts with understanding your own risk and then learning what you can do to reduce it.
Half of all heart-related deaths are from coronary artery disease. Stroke, heart failure, hypertension and other diseases of the heart and blood vessels cause the remainder. Identifying oneâs own risk factors is the first step to a heart-healthy life.
On Valentineâs Day, Tuesday, February 14, from 10 am to 1 pm, New Milford Hospital will help the public take the first step by offering free screenings; a heart health risk assessment. No appointment is necessary.
The screening includes blood pressure, pulse rate, carotid bruits (carotid arteries), body mass, and a personal assessment of various risk factors.
In addition to the screening, the hospitalâs breast health coordinator will provide information on self-breast exams, mammograms, and other important, preventive information.
The program is free and open to the public. For more information call 860-350-7215.
