Christian Book Store To Open This Weekend

Dick and Eileen Dunseith of Newtown and Russ and Reggie Cernick, also of Newtown, will celebrate the grand opening of their new store, Share The Word Christian Bookstore this weekend.

The store, located in Ricky’s Shopping Center at 71 South Main Street, will carry a wide variety of Christian books, including many titles by Catholic authors. There will also be a selection of gifts from manufacturers such as Jerusalem Stone, Carpentree and Bob Siemon, as well as unique items created by local artisans. There will also be a generous array of Christian greeting cards by Dayspring.

The Dunseiths and the Cernicks are parishioners at St Rose of Lima in Newtown. The idea for starting the store arose out of the relationship the two couples formed while participating in the Christ Renews His Parish retreat process conducted at St Rose.

“It is through this retreat process that our families, and especially Russ and I, have built a strong and faith-filled friendship” said Mr Dunseith. “We felt that opening a Christian book store would fill a need within Newtown, and provide us with a way to bring our faith in Jesus to others.”

“We hope to serve the needs of the community by providing the books and products that can’t be found elsewhere in Newtown or in the nearby area,” Mr Cernick added. “We will be working with local pastors, as well as taking suggestions, in order to have the items people are looking for.”

The store’s grand opening will be on Saturday, January 28, from 10 am to 6 pm. A blessing of the store will take place at 10 am.
