Black History

For Children

DANBURY — The Danbury Library Junior Services Department will celebrate Black History Month with stories and a craft for children in grades 3-5 on Tuesday, February 7, beginning at 4 pm.

Jeanette Winter’s popular story Follow the Drinking Gourd will be read and children will learn about The Underground Railroad. Children will also learn about Rosa Parks and her contributions to the Civil Rights Movement.

Participants will then be invited to discuss the stories and following the discussion, each child will make a Unity Wreath.

The one-hour program is free of charge, but registration is required by calling 797-4528 or by registering at the Junior Services Desk in the library.

Danbury Library is at 170 Main Street in Danbury.
