Quotations Come To Mind
Quotations Come To Mind
To the Editor:
In response to a letter by Stan Rajczewski, Jr, published in last weekâs edition of The Newtown Bee, I would like to note that his attack on Colleen McCormack-Clifford (and liberals) brought two quotes to mind. The first is by Christopher Hitchins, who wrote, âWhat can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.â
The other quote is by one of Americaâs best-known fighting men, fictional or otherwise, who in his wisdom knew a coherent argument when he heard one: the brave All-American Boy Radar OâReilly [of M*A*S*H], who said, âWell I certainly canât argue with that âcause I didnât understand a thing you said.â
My final comment to Mr Rajczewski regards his closing line, âRemember September 11.â
There are some of us who do remember it. We are also quite aware, and always have been, that Iraq had nothing to do with it. By the way, neither did Iran or New Jersey or California or Texas or... oh wait a minute Texas â let me think for a minute I heard on the Internet something about Texas...
In response to Pat Calleryâs letter of January 12, 2007, while his service in World War II should be honored, it is quite disturbing that the vision of democracy he fought for equates dissent with treason.
