Jamie Beckman and Daniel Maley

Kristine and William Beckman of Newtown announce the engagement of their daughter, Jamie Lynn Beckman, to Daniel James Maley, son of John and Bev Maley of Sandy Hook.

The bride-to-be is a 2001 graduate of Newtown High School, and also of Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s in elementary education. She is a teacher in the Wake County (N.C.) school system, and lives in Cary, N.C.

The groom-to-be is also a 2001 graduate of Newtown High School. He then graduated from Boston University with a bachelor’s of science in mechanical engineer and is now a mechanical engineer for Progress Energy in Raleigh, N.C. He too lives in Cary, N.C.

An August wedding is being planned.
