A report in last week’s Newtown Bee on the Legislative Council’s accepting the 2007 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) incorrectly stated that funding for a new town hall project currently appears in the plan. While the town hall project appeared in numerous Capital Improvement Plans prior to funding being authorized, references to the town hall appropriation, which have been authorized but not fully spent, appear in the town’s financial plan attached to all CIP documentation.

In the same story, it was reported that council member Keith Jacobs voted against accepting the CIP because it contained funding for the town hall. Mr Jacobs subsequently clarified that he voted against the CIP because it contains funding for a recreation/senior center and pool proposal, which he felt, could be funded as a higher priority, possibly substituting funds originally allocated for the town hall development.
