Buick Vs Chevrolet

About 4 pm January 23, motorist Elizabeth Dyer, 25, of 2 The Old Road, who was driving a 1993 Buick Regal northward on Taunton Lane, stopped at a stop sign at that street’s intersection with Mt Pleasant Road, police said.

At that time, motorist Ryan Gorman, 26, of Ansonia, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt eastward on Mt Pleasant Road and approaching the intersection, police said.

The Buick then started to make a left turn onto westbound Mt Pleasant Road, but collided with the approaching Chevrolet.

Ambulance volunteers checked both drivers for injuries, but both people refused medical attention, police said. Hawleyville firefighters responded to the accident.

Police issued Dyer an infraction ticket on a stop sign violation.

Congested Area

Police report a two-vehicle accident in the congested area of Church Hill Road near the Blue Colony Diner.

Motorist Sean Catterson, 39, of Phillipsburg, N.J., who was driving a 2005 Chevrolet truck westward on Church Hill Road about 7:30 am January 22, was attempting to make a left turn into a commercial driveway, when the truck collided with an eastbound 1993 Chevrolet sedan that was driven by Daniel Cartisano, 17, of Scenic View Drive, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Catterson an infraction ticket for making a restricted turn.

High School Theft

On January 23, police executed an arrest warrant against a person under age 16, charging the person with fifth-degree larceny. The crime involves the theft of items worth between $250 and $500.

Police said the arrest stems from multiple incidents of theft that occurred at a Newtown High School locker room in March 2006.

Last August, police arrested another unidentified person on theft, conspiracy, and criminal liability charges stemming from the same March 2006 incidents. Those charges involved the theft of between $500 and $1,000 worth of goods.

After processing on January 23, police released the arrested youth on a written promise to appear February 5 in Danbury Juvenile Court.

Because those arrested in the case are both under age 18, their identities are shielded by state law.

GMC Safari

About 6:16 pm January 18, motorist Zachary Klein, 17, of 33 Russett Road was driving a 1996 GMC Safari northward on a snowy, icy Gelding Hill Road, police said.

The GMC slid on the road and then struck a stone wall, becoming stuck on it, police said. Klein was not injured. Police verbally warned him for making a restricted turn.

Button Shop Road

About 6:11 pm January 18, motorist John Mesko, 45, of 12 Surrey Trail was driving a 2003 Toyota Matrix westward on a snowy Button Shop Road, when the vehicle went out of control and struck a tree along the right side of the road, police said. Mesko was not injured. Police issued him a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.
