‘Retirement and Caregiving: Strategies for Success’ In Person To Continue ‘Timeless Newtown’ Series
For those planning for retirement or balancing caregiving responsibilities, there is often a realization that the life journeys are intertwined.
Ann (Nancy) Rhodes, NP, and Lori Candela, ME, CPRC, invite readers to join them for a conversation designed to help them navigate with clarity, purpose, and confidence. “Retirement and Caregiving: Strategies for Success” is planned for Saturday, February 1, from 10 am until noon, in the Gathering Room of C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street.
The program is part of the “Timeless Newtown: Embracing Every Generation” series recently launched by the library, Friends of Newtown Seniors, and Newtown Commission on Aging. Organizers hope to break through stereotypes and destructive thinking toward aging and the elderly through programs, discussions, a One Town One Read, and other special events.
With “Retirement and Caregiving,” Rhodes and Candela will help guests create a fulfilling retirement across all dimensions of wellbeing — spiritual, physical, cognitive, and social; learn to master caregiving with practical tips from the medical toolbook Caregiver Success, Tips and Tools; and balance caring for others while caring for themselves.
Whether planning for retirement, caregiving or both, attendees will gain valuable strategies for the path ahead.
Lori Candela, founder of Retiring on Purpose, LLC, is a certified professional retirement coach and dynamic speaker. She engages her audience with interactive discussions and activities and ensures they walk away with new insights and actionable takeaways.
Her goal is to empower those who are retiring with the knowledge and tools they need to create a lifestyle that they will love. She focuses on the non-financial aspects of retirement and helps her clients retire with clarity so they can live their next chapter with intention and without regrets.
Ann (Nancy) Rhodes is an author and baby boomer vlogger. “Nancy the NP,” as she is known on YouTube, had worked in the home care setting for over 40 years when she realized many medical crises could be prevented with advance planning and knowledge. She published a comprehensive medical tool book called Caregiver Success, Tips and Tools in 2020; the book was updated and republished in November 2024.
As a faith community nurse, Rhodes felt the importance of giving the book a spiritual tone to provide hope to the caregiver.
Registration is required for “Retirement and Caregiving,” available by calling 203-426-4533 or online at chboothlibrary.org.
